Meet Ruth Miller
Ruth Miller began working in stained glass at the age of 7 (with her mother) before returning to the craft as an adult.
Her goal is to create movement in her pieces, using the shape and color saturation of the glass, the lead or solder lines, and sunlight to convey a sense of energy. Ruth works from her own original designs but finds inspiration in other artists' paintings, prints, photos, and even tattoos. She also enjoys incorporating fused glass and "found materials" ("someone else's junk") into her designs. She has experience in both the copper foil and the lead came methods of constructing stained glass, as well as experience fusing glass.
Ruth has a college degree in Art History and was a museum educator in her early career. She teaches Stained Glass for Adults and Teens at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.
